I know I still struggle with black or white and all or nothing kind of thinking but everything else is done and dusted with now.

What JW habits do you still have?
by Exelder insince leaving the jw's after over 4 decades, i can see exactly what it is and hate everything it stands for.
however, there are still some jw habits and traits that i can't get rid of:.
1. i can't swear in general conversation (i'd have to be really angry).

Here is what silly looks like
by Sour Grapes infor shits and grins, i looked at an online sunday meeting a few days ago on youtube.
i was in disbelieve on just how silly everything looks with the watchtower reader reading from his little iphone and the watchtower conductor holding up his iphone to ask the questions.
then the conductor asked the reader to read a bible verse and of course, he reads from his little phone.

I got counselled by an elder for reading my bible on my computer back in the late 90s. He informed me I could not get Holy Spirit from a computer only from a proper Bible.
I've been out so long I'm wondering if rank and file even get their own portion of Holy Spirit still or is it all reserved exclusively for the GB now?

Were You Close To Your Non JW Family?
by minimus ini was thinking of how little i know about my father’s side of the family.
i recently inquired about ancestry.com and i’ve come to the realization that even the closest sides of my family via my father, are unknown to me .
what a shame that jehovah’s witnesses kept us apart.

My family were not close (estranged on my mother's side) and I didnt meet my maternal grandmother until my mid twenties. She was lovely. I only knew her 7 years before she died so then I was pretty much alone again and easy pickings when JWs called. I thought I was gaining a loving supportive extended family something I craved and after joining was relieved to "dump" my blood family who I seemed to constantly disappoint. After leaving JWs I am pretty much alone again. I seem to sub consciously repel people but for the most I've learned to accept I am actually happier alone now.

Two Gods seen in the Bible
by Ireneus ina careful reader of the bible can see depiction of two gods in the bible—one that of a loving father figure, and the other an impulsive sort of who has been copied thoughtlessly from other cultures.. 1) god of love (as seen in genesis chapter 1) who creates humans (men and woman simultaneously) “in his image” (which means he gave the best he can to his children, the potential to become like him) as a crown of creation with a command to take care of all species, and goes into silence unconcerned of mankind’s response [gratitude or worship] to him, yet with a presupposition to “renew” in case humans deplete/destroy the resources (mathew 19:28; revelation 21:1-5).
thus god’s action defines him as “the servant of humanity.” (luke 22:26, 27) this is in contrast to the second god (as seen in genesis chapter 2 and 3 and throughout other books) who makes the planning for suffering and death for humans in co-operation with his adversary.. 2) god of impartiality (deut 10:17; mathew 5:44-48) who asks us to love/greet everyone.
this is in contrast to the second god who commands his worshippers not even to greet those who do not share their beliefs.

I never saw God as giving humans the best he could. I always wondered why many animals have superior hearing and sight to us. Why did he minimise our running capabilities to be far inferior to any of the big cats. Why could our offspring not be independent at birth like fish or even grow in an external egg so child birth complications would be reduced. Why did he not foresee denying us the ability to fly would cause us to invent planet polluting machines to carry us instead. I do not feel as a grand designer, humans, his supposedly pièce de résistance is his best effort at all. Don't even get me started on the personal waste disposal system he gave us. :P

"A faithful and discreet slave"
by Sergey Antonov inthat is, the "faithful and prudent slave" admitted that he is not a channel between god and people, but a group of ordinary people who have themselves appointed themselves and interpret the bible by themselves ??
?so why did they then decide that in 1919 they were chosen by jesus christ.after all, jesus clearly said how to distinguish a false prophet (deuteronomy 18: 20-22).. who will help to find quotes from the watchtower, that the words "faithful and discreet slave" come not from him, but from god.and that everything he writes in publications is true and true.?.

I was originally told by someone who claimed to be anointed that the 144,000 were the faithful and discreet slave class.

Go Bags, Safe houses and cartoon of two kids.
by scruffmcbuff ini have been out a good 10+ years and until recently didnt pay much attention to what the jehovahs are up to.. why have they taken this turn with the bunker videos and making all the brainwashed people like my parents pack a go bag.
now let me just clarify.
im a military man i believe everyone should have an element of preparedness canned goods, bottled water and a bug out bag is a great addition ( ill stop waffling on about that now).. but what concerns me is the fact they are advising elderly people to bug out.

I think it's a good idea to have a plan (not for armageddon) but for a natural disaster or fire.
After Grenfell I worried how I would save all my hedgehogs (I am on the 7th floor of a similar tower block) knowing it would have to be done in a single trip. I am confident I can do it using pillowcases with a couple in each one. 10 pillowcases are in an easy to reach place now.

Why are JDubs scared to death of apostate websites?
by Sour Grapes inwhen i was an elder back in the 1970's i loved to debate and challenge ministers, preachers, and holy rollers.
now you can be a loyal jdub fully indoctrinated for 30 years but just take a peek at an apostate website and you are doomed.
yes, satan now has you by the gonads and all of the years of being at the meetings, all of the family worship nights, all of the conventions, and all of the personal study just go up in a cloud of smoke.

I was terrified I would be demonized for looking. What I found was evidence of plagiarism and the Jimmy Swaggart trial which started me down the rabbit hole.

Elders I encountered don't have a clue and it's all about image and none about caring.
After I had been violently attacked by a masked man coming in through my bedroom window an elder had clearly translated "attacked" as raped because his first question was did I scream?
After the attack a couple of weeks later was the memorial. I went altho was still bit of a mess and asked people to come round. That was 9 years ago and I am still waiting. I got one phone call telling me because I had stopped going to meetings (massive depression) I am now shunned unless I go back.
